2007 Winter Newsletter
Transition time between fall and spring hunts. Bear are deep asleep. Sows are awaiting newborns next month. Baits in NB are baited and ready for bears to wake end of April for spring hunts. Canadian camps have had some finishing touches put on them to make them even more comfortable and convenient. An upgrade in stands has been made. We will be utilizing comfortable tripod stands and Ameristep Brick House Pop-up Blinds as ground blinds. Gorilla Deluxe seat cushions have been purchased to make existing ladder and portable stands more comfortable. Been to Maine or perhaps Eastern Canada bear hunting? Common scenario 30 guys a week in camp, less than 30% success. You’ve hunted with the rest, now try one of the best. 100% sightings last 4 years. 2006 Fall Maine – We had 22 hunters, 21 shot bears average weight of bears harvested was 164 #’s. State average over bait is 20-24% success and just over 100 #’s for the average bear shot. We rewrite the average year after year. Biggest bear shot was 415 #’s 20 1/4“ skull. We had 4 brothers from PA. All shot opening night on Monday. Headed home with bears skinned and meat packed Tuesday in a.m. THAT’S SUCCESS! 2006 springs hunts in Canada were 100% on sightings over baits. Each client saw on average of 3.5 bears on their hunts. Kill success was at 58%. We shot some really nice prime bears. Fall hunts in Canada were not run as I spent the rest of fall (after Maine hunts) making improvements to camps in Canada. I shot a nice bear with bow in Canada (another poper). We hunt very private ground on both sides of the border. Many of our baits are accessible by A.T.V. only. I added a Polaris Ranger to my fleet and it is a real work horse for baiting and transporting hunters and gear. You are welcome to bring your own A.T.V. as there are hundreds of miles of trails for you to ride on both sides of the border right from both camps. We want to share our success with you. We attribute our success to 3 things. Total preparation, great private ground, and the best bait available. No BS here! We give you what’s advertised. Check our references and testimonials. You will probably never see us at any of the big outdoor shows in your area. Nor will we probably ever be on the outdoor channel or sportsman’s channel. We do not give free hunts away to some pro hunter to promote our business or his show. We have been very blessed and never had to go down that road. Please don’t take this the wrong way. I watch all the shows all 7 months of winter, while doing taxidermy in my shop, and really enjoy them and relate to them. I would love to hunt with some of the outdoor personalities out there. We all share the same common bond of our love and passion for the outdoors. We want to thank each and every client that has hunted with us and welcome you and others to come back. Being in the business really builds long lasting memories and a lot of friendships along the way. Hope to hunt with you soon! May the hunt never end!
